Celebrating Diwali - Seattle Witchy Diwali Photoshoot

Hello my friends. If you don’t know what Diwali is - it’s a magical holiday celebrated in India and Nepal-and by Hindu, Sikh, Jain, and some Buddhist communities around the world.

What Diwali Celebrates…

Diwali symbolizes the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and hope over despair.

In many traditions, it’s connected to the return of Rama and Sita after defeating evil—people lit lamps to guide them home.

This gorgeous lady and I do a shoot every year for the past three years. It is her way to celebrate herself, and to honor Diwali. She sends out a Diwali card with every shoot and they are truly gorgeous cards and I am so honored when I get mine in the mail.

As you can see, she also brings her beloved cats to the shoot. My cat travels better with a little valerian root or calming herbs - a tip for those who want to bring their familiars to the shoot. Of course, not every cat would tolerate this.

J brought the red dress and the cats (and her cool ass hair and style) and I brought the black dress, capes, and props. I love starting out with a lighter look and ending with a darker witchy vibe.

Also, I am SOOOO sad to say that this location is only open in the winter.

Diwali is a vibrant, joyful celebration that usually lasts 5 days and includes: lighting oil lamps (diyas) and candles

  • decorating homes with colorful patterns (rangoli) - maybe fireworks and sparklers, wearing beautiful clothing, sharing sweets and gifts, gathering with family and friends.

Homes are filled with light to invite positivity and blessings.

The next shoot we did was in SEDONA Arizona, and I will finally blog about that one soon!

Witchy Women Empowerment Sessions are $1500 and include a two hour session, and 70-100 high resolution images.

First we pick a date, I grab a $250 deposit to hold that date.

My turn around time is 5-8 weeks. You will see 20 or so sneak peeks within a few days of the session.

We talk location and styling. You can borrow my dresses if you wear a size small medium. Sorry my collection is growing as my business grows and I will have a more inclusive styling closet someday. I also have nothing for men, it’s sad. Oh wait, I do have a sword! Most women bring a dress or two - maybe you already have one or you can borrow one. I also have great suggestions on where to shop for one.

HERE IS MY ETSY LIST

I love HOLY CLOTHING
